From a small flat in Huddersfield, Jedeye (aka Jed Cooper) is busy creating what his fans call "dance floor destroyers", "dirty filthy grooves", "killer beats", "soothing soundscapes…healing our industrially destroyed souls!" According to one fan he is already becoming famous in Florida!
Fans continue to vote Aquaboogie in the top 5 in the electronica charts (numberonemusic.com) whilst top international DJs recently voted Aqaboogie at no. 7 in digital promos highly respected breaks charts.
Also in December 06, Jedeye has been chosen amongst hundreds of other artists to be featured on the latest Fantazia DVD. And with the praise of Junkie XL urging Jedeye to keep making such good music, we hope that others too will spread the word and play the music.
From the dark, film noir atmosphere that spills from Head Down Hood Up ft Eyon (some have drawn comparisons with Unkle), to the loud rude hard-edged rave sounds of Aquaboogie and Ryan Bizzle, or the raw techno of Zulubeadz, this is leftfield dance as it should be; always urging you to dance whilst constantly twisting you in different directions.
Influences: Of particular significance Jed remembers when he first heard a live drum & bass set at 15. It was early 1995 just when drum & bass was at its peak - when tunes like Super Sharp Shooter, The Terrorist, It's Jazzy, & Pulp Fiction amongst countless others were ripping through the sound systems of these mostly underground nights. Since then Jedeye has been at work, writing and creating music, causing a buzz at house parties and attracting a large underground following. Other key influences include The Prodigy, Daft Punk and the rave scene of the early-late 90s. Not forgetting the acoustic influences of his very musical family.
Throwing most musical genres into the sequencing spinner, you can hear hints of electro, breaks, grime, funk, hip hop and techno all working together harmoniously. The end result is a raw powerful sound, with little comparison.
"Aquaboogie is wicked, really into it!" (MRK 1)
"Man, I really dig your stuff! Keep up the good work " (Junkie XL)
"you're already getting famous in Florida!"
"direct filthy grooves all the way, dance floor destroyers!"
"HEAD DOWN HOOD UP IS LEGENDARY STUFF MAN!"
"Zulubeadz is the business"
"Renegade Soundwave meets The Residents or something approaching !!! … Aquaboogie remains my favourite though. I can almost imagine you blowing bubbles and launching Minimal Waves 4 Maximal Vibes. Yes Sireee !!! Brilliant sound!"
Jedeye: "I don't see the value in being singular in style. I use techno sounds in breaks tracks and drum & bass sounds in down tempo tracks, it's irrelevant to me. My definition of versatility is a john peel set."
The Aquaboogie EP is the perfect introduction to the Jedeye way.
